Multi-functional Coatings
AQM has the capability of functionalizing nanomaterials to provide surfaces with additional properties such as hydrophobicity, amphiphobicity, UV blocking, anti-bacterial, and conductive features. Our coatings replace Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances. PFAS represents thousands of man-made, highly stable chemicals known as "forever chemicals" because they don't break down easily, accumulating in the environment, wildlife, and humans. Governments are regulating and banning certain PFAS.
Our additives are silicone-based and are designed to add new functionality and properties to polymers. Our amphiphobic coating is a hierarchical structure consisting of micro and nanostructured materials that has been applied to cotton, polyester, nylon, etc. The coatings can be sprayed, padded, or dip coated onto the surface. Further, our materials can greatly improve polymer mechanical properties. Applications include the development of smart textiles, anti-fingerprint coatings, and stain resistance.
AQM nanomaterials with a variety of aspect ratios and geometries can yield polymer composites with many enhanced properties.
