Displays

Colloidal silicon quantum dots are solution processable semiconducting nanocrystals. They emit bright, pure and tunable colors of light, making them excellent candidates for next-generation display and solid-state lighting applications. Our SiQDs are robust, superior light emitting materials with quantum efficiencies exceeding 85%. Their relatively narrow emission spectra can be readily tuned throughout the visible and near-infrared (NIR) spectrum via both quantum size effects and/or by tailoring the surface chemistry of the nanocrystals. These characteristics make them useful for display manufacturers as SiQDs:

  • Have excellent photostability once polymer encapsulated for  applications requiring high temperature and high humidity environments.

  • Can be easily processed to form polymer matrices to produce thin-film configurations for ultra-thin flexible form factor applications.

QDs exhibit both photoluminescent and electroluminescent properties allowing them to be readily incorporated into new emissive display architectures. SiQDs have also been utilized and encapsulated in numerous polymers. AQM provides new product opportunities that are enabled by the low cost, non-toxic, robust nature of our novel nanomaterials.
